Train Hits Car on Raymond Avenue in Pasadena Injuring Driver

PASADENA, CA (September 30, 2023) – A woman was injured in a train accident at Raymond Avenue and California Boulevard in Pasadena on Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 9:20 a.m. on September 28. According to the Pasadena Police Department, a Metro A Line train hit a dark-colored vehicle, sending it into a nearby building.

Firefighters freed the 40-year-old female driver, who was the sole occupant of the car. Paramedics then transported her to a hospital with moderate injuries.

None of the 100 train passengers were injured, but the train operator was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The tracks were closed in the area, so buses were being used to carry passengers to the Del Amo, Fillmore and South Pasadena stations.

Metro technicians were sent to the scene to evaluate possible damage to the train involved in the crash and other transit infrastructure.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.

Train tracks and railroad crossings are a major safety concern. Only cross at designated railroad crossings marked by a sign, lights, or a gate. Never rush across as trains may be closer and faster than you think. Patiently wait for the trains to pass, the lights to stop flashing, and the gates to lift before crossing. Also, do not use your cell phone and remove your headphones to avoid distraction.
