Walter Mendoza Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway [Glenn County, CA]

Crash Involving 3 Vehicles on 5 Freeway at County Road 57 Injures Driver Walter Mendoza

 
GLENN COUNTY, CA (October 14, 2022) – Walter Mendoza sustained injuries in a three-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Glenn County on October 4.
 
The accident happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. just south of County Road 57. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 21-year-old victim from Bakersfield was driving a Freightliner semi truck southbound on the freeway.
 
A vehicle ahead of him slowed rapidly, causing him to swerve to the left. He then collided with a vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Hector Delgado of Sacramento.
 
Both vehicles then traveled out of control into the center median before colliding into the culvert and separating.
 
A Volvo semi truck, driven by 34-year-old Rana Mehdi of Sacramento, was traveling northbound on 5 Freeway at the time of the crash. Mehdi observed the collision between the two vehicles and started to slow down. He applied his brakes and turned the semi to the right to try and avoid Mendoza’s semi but collided with the roof of the vehicle after it came to rest on its side.
 
As a result of the crash, Mendoza sustained a small laceration to his right leg. Both Delgado and Mehdi were unharmed.
 
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a factor in this crash. An investigation is underway.
