Two-Car Accident on Highway 99 in Bakersfield Kills 72-Year-Old Man

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 26, 2021) – Vardges Aramovich Arakelian died in a two-car accident in Bakersfield on July 12, Monday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 99, just north of Gilmore Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 72-year-old man from Van Nuys was driving his car southbound on the highway when he collided with another vehicle.
 
The impact caused Arakelian fatal injuries. He died at the scene.
 
It is unknown if the other driver sustained injuries from the crash.
 
CHP officials are still trying to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
