Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train at Carlsbad Village Station
CARLSBAD, CA (July 26, 2021) – A man was killed in a train accident at the Carlsbad Village Station in Carlsbad Monday morning, July 26.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. when a northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train passed through the station. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the train was going at approximately 84 mph when it struck the male pedestrian. The track speed for that location is 90 mph.
Responding Carlsbad Fire Department crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The North County Transit District sent buses to pick up train passengers affected by this fatal crash.
