Multi-Vehicle Accident on Auberry Road in Fresno Leaves 2 Clovis Men Dead

FRESNO, CA (January 9, 2022) – Two motorcyclists died in a multi-vehicle accident on Auberry Road in Fresno on Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on January 8. According to the CHP, the motorcyclists were traveling south on Auberry Road. They crossed onto the opposing lane in an attempt to pass other vehicles. That was when one of the motorcyclists collided head-on with an oncoming Subaru SUV.
 
After the initial crash, the driver of the Subaru swerved left to try and avoid hitting the second motorcyclist, and hit a black pickup truck. The second motorcyclist ended up hitting the pickup truck as well.
 
As a result, both motorcyclists died at the scene. Authorities only identified them as a 54-year-old Clovis man and a 25-year-old Clovis man.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries.
 
Both motorcyclists were wearing helmets. Police said it was technically legal for them to pass the vehicles because there was a dashed line on their side, but it was a dangerous part of the roadway to pass.
 
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.
