Early Morning Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove Kills Driver and 1 Passenger

 
ELK GROVE, CA (September 22, 2022) – Two people died in a rollover accident on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove early Tuesday morning, September 20.
 
The fatal accident happened a little after midnight near Hood Franklin Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Toyota Camry carrying four people was heading north on the freeway at about 70 mph.
 
The driver overcorrected and the car lost traction on the wet roadway.
 
The Camry then went off the roadway into grass and dirt. It rolled over several times, ejecting three of its occupants.
 
One of the ejected passengers, a 20-year-old Stockton man, died at the scene. The driver, a 21-year-old man from Elk Grove, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
 
The other two passengers, an Isleton and another Stockton resident, suffered major injuries.
 
At this time, an investigation is ongoing.
