Wrong-Way Head-On Accident on 5 Freeway in Bay Ho Area Sends Two Drivers to Hospital

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 13, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a wrong-way head-on accident on 5 Freeway in the Bay Ho area late Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. on August 9, along the northbound lanes of the freeway near Highway 163. According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound 5 Freeway when it collided head-on with a white SUV. The white SUV then struck a red pickup truck.
 
As a result, both drivers of the SUVs were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
No other injuries were reported at this time.
 
CHP officials are looking into the possibility of DUI as a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
