TURLOCK, CA (August 13, 2021) – Police confirmed that a horse died while a teen sustained injuries in an accident on East Harding Road on August 11.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Youngstown Road.
 
Based on reports, the teen was riding the horse on Harding along the right edge of the road at the time of the crash. At the same time, a Chevrolet pickup truck was on northbound Youngstown turning into Harding. Then, the truck driver admitted to taking his eyes off the road when he reached for something in the truck. When he looked back up, he saw the teen on the horse and made a quick turn to the left. Subsequently, the truck rotated counter-clockwise and slammed into the horse, tossing the teen to the roadway.
 
As a result, the horse died in the incident. In addition, the 19-year-old rider from Turlock suffered major injuries.
 
At this point, this accident on East Harding Road is still under investigation.
