Traffic Accident Involving Fire Ladder Truck on 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek Leaves 2 People in Critical Condition
WALNUT CREEK, CA (April 15, 2024) – Two people were critically injured in a traffic accident on 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek Saturday morning on April 13.
The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. on near the Olympic Boulevard exit. According to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District, a passenger vehicle collided into the back of a ladder truck.
The ladder truck, which has a rear steering position, was blocking a lane of the highway to protect firefighters responding to an earlier vehicle accident.
Two occupants of the passenger vehicle suffered critical injuries after the crash.
Four firefighters were inside the truck at the time and were cleared after evaluations at the hospital.
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
