Man Dead after Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 28 near Old County Road

 
TAHOE CITY, CA (October 26, 2022) —A 54-year-old Tahoe Vista man died in a semi-truck crash on Highway 28 on Tuesday, October 25.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Truckee office, they received a report at around 9:10 a.m. about a two-car traffic accident on Highway 28, east of Old County Road.
 
An initial investigation determined that for unknown reasons, the Tahoe Vista resident allowed his 2008 GMC Savana to drift over double yellow lines. It then went into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane. After that, a 2015 Peterbilt Tractor towing a flatbed trailer hit the front driver’s side of the GMC.
 
The CHP report said that the GMC driver did not wear a seat belt and died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
The driver of the semi identified as 59-year-old Scott Juniver of Reno did not sustain any injuries.
 
CHP said they have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
 
Authorities closed Highway 28 in both directions for around three hours.
