Red Light Runner Injures Public Safety Officer in Rohnert Park Accident

 
ROHNERT PARK, CA (October 25, 2022) — A public safety officer was injured in a car accident on Rohnert Park Expressway on Monday night.
 
The incident happened at about 9:10 p.m. near State Farm Drive. According to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, the officer was operating a marked police vehicle eastbound on Rohnert Park Expressway.
 
On a green arrow, the officer attempted to go north on State Farm Drive. At the same time, a westbound silver Honda sedan entered the intersection on Rohnert Park Expressway against a red traffic light.
 
As a result, the Honda collided with the front passenger side of the patrol car. The public safety officer sustained minor injuries in the crash, while there was no information available as to the condition of the occupant of the Honda.
 
Additionally, both vehicles were damaged.
 
The crash remains under investigation. Officials ask anyone with information to call CHP’s Santa Rosa office at 707-588-1400 and reference report number 9360-2022-01759.
