Suspect Dies in Police Chase Crash on Burbank Boulevard in Sherman Oaks

 
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (June 13, 2022) — A suspect died in a police chase accident on Burbank Boulevard at Mammoth Avenue on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit took place late Saturday when CHP officers found a 1998 Honda Accord speeding on the 210 Freeway. The driver, however, failed to stop and led authorities on a high-speed chase around 10:07 p.m.
 
The pursuit then reached speeds of 117 miles per hour, with the suspect fleeing in the wrong direction against traffic on Highway 118. At some point, a passenger exited the fleeing car and remains at large.
 
From there, the driver traveled on the 405 Freeway before driving through a parking structure of a Target store and finally through surface streets where it crashed into a Subaru driver. Following the impact with the Subaru, the Honda slammed into a palm tree on the corner of Burbank Boulevard and Mammoth Avenue.
 
The suspect died at the scene.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and treated the Subaru driver for minor injuries.
