Alleged Hit-and-Run Driver turns Herself in after Fatally Striking Stanley Isaacs in Laguna Beach

 
LAGUNA BEACH, CA (August 15, 2022)Stanley Isaacs died in a hit-and-run crash in Laguna Beach on Thursday evening.
 
The crash happened around 9:38 p.m. on August 11 in the area of South Coast Highway and Pearl Street. According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, 18-year-old Sysillia Morrison Montes De Oca of Costa Mesa was driving a silver 2009 Volkswagen Jetta when she struck Isaacs and his wife.
 
The couple was walking in the crosswalk after celebrating their wedding anniversary at nearby Ristorante Rumari.
 
First responders rushed the couple to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where Isaacs died from his injuries. His wife was treated for moderate injuries and released from the hospital Thursday night.
 
Both Isaacs and his wife were 60 years old from Costa Mesa.
 
Meanwhile, Montes De Oca fled the scene after the crash.
 
Police later located the suspect’s Jetta in a garage in Aliso Viejo and impounded the sedan for evidence.
 
Montes De Oca turned herself in on Friday. She faces charges including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony hit-and-run. She was released on $100,000 bail.
 
Detectives believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
