DUI Driver Crashes into Santa Ana Police Cruiser on West Civic Center Drive Injuring Several Children

 
SANTA ANA, CA (April 7, 2023) – Several children were hurt in a DUI crash on West Civic Center Drive in Santa Ana late Saturday night on April 1.
 
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV carrying several children crashed into a police cruiser in 500 block of West Civic Center Drive around 11:00 p.m.
 
Video from the scene showed the Chevrolet parked on a sidewalk with large dents on its passenger side, while the Santa Ana police car sat disabled in the roadway with major front-end damage.
 
Paramedics evaluated and treated several children with minor injuries.
 
The unidentified driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
 
The exact relationship between the driver and the children is unclear. An investigation is underway.
