Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on First Street in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (May 6, 2024) — One person died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on First Street near Santa Ana Avenue.
 
According to Fresno Police officers, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 10:00 p.m. Friday.
 
For unknown reasons, Fresno Police tried to stop a vehicle in Northeast Fresno. However, the driver did not stop, and a brief pursuit unfolded. Subsequently, police canceled the chase, but the vehicle continued westbound on Santa Ana Avenue where it hopped a curb and struck two pedestrians.
 
Minutes later, paramedics responded to the collision site to find one person with critical injuries and another with fatal injuries.
 
As for the suspect in the car, the vehicle reportedly drove through a parking lot near Fashion Field Mall and became stuck between a pole and a tree. However, the two men inside the vehicle had left.
