Two-Vehicle Crash in Apple Valley Results in Injuries

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (January 27, 2023) — A school police officer in Apple Valley sustained injuries in a collision on Highway 18 at Flat Head Road Tuesday morning.
 
Based on reports, the incident occurred at about 11:01 a.m. on January 24th. It involved a Ford Explorer police cruiser and a Honda CRV.
 
A preliminary investigation showed that the female officer was operating the cruiser on Highway 18. Officials said she was responding to a service call and had her lights and sirens activated.
 
As the cruiser approached the intersection, the Honda at Flat Head Road proceeded through the highway. The officer reportedly tried to dodge the Honda. However, she slammed on its rear end and subsequently crashed against a utility pole.
 
Paramedics transported the officer, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, to a hospital. Her name was not released. The driver of the Honda, meanwhile, complained of pain but there was no word on whether they required hospitalization.
 
This crash remains under investigation by the Apple Valley School Police.
