Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach

 
LAGUNA BEACH, CA (January 30, 2023) – Xueyuan Zhang was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Laguna Beach early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:50 a.m. on January 28, in the 700 block of South Coast Highway. According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, the 39-year-old victim was walking outside of the crosswalk when a vehicle struck him.
 
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
 
A witness called 911. Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced Zhang dead at the scene.
 
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
 
Laguna Beach police urged anyone with information regarding the fatality to call them at 949-497-0701.
