Bicyclist Dies after Hit by Truck on Poplar Avenue in Wasco

 
WASCO, CA (August 30, 2022) – Salvador Covarrubias was killed in a bicycle accident in Wasco on Sunday evening, August 28.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:19 p.m. at Poplar Avenue and Filburn Street. According to the sheriff’s office, Covarrubias was riding his bicycle when a truck hit him at the intersection.
 
As a result, Covarrubias suffered major injuries and died at the scene. He was 67 years old, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
It is unclear if the driver of the truck stayed after the crash.
