Richard Nichols Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard at Mercury Street

 
KEARNY MESA, CA (September 8, 2021) — Richard Nichols died in a pedestrian accident on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard at Mercury Street early Tuesday.
 
According to authorities, the fatal incident happened around 5:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, 62-year-old Nichols crossed against a red light in a marked crosswalk. Subsequently, a driver in a westbound Subaru struck him.
 
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and brought the San Diego man to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he died, despite life-saving efforts.
 
Meanwhile, police canvassed the area for the investigation and closed the westbound traffic lanes. At this time, authorities have not confirmed the liabilities or cause of the crash. However, if anyone has more information on this accident, please contact the San Diego Police Department.
