Ricardo Cendejas Dies, Police Arrest Suspect Amber Chavez in San Jose Pedestrian Hit-And-Run

 
SAN JOSE, CA (April 29, 2021)Ricardo Cendejas was killed in a hit-and-run earlier this month in San Jose.
 
The incident happened around 4:57 p.m. on April 8, in the 1100 block of South 1st Street. Officers responded to find Cendejas with life-threatening injuries. He was struck by a driver who fled the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed Cendejas to a hospital, where he died on April 16. He was 33-year-old San Jose resident.
 
Police said the suspect, 40-year-old Amber Daphnee Chavez of San Jose, was connected to a carjacking. She allegedly used the vehicle as a weapon to intentionally attack the victim.
 
San Jose Police arrested Chavez on April 20. They took her into custody on suspicion of homicide, carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.
 
At this time, the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
