UPS Driver Dies after Truck Hit Semi Trailer in Tulare County

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (February 5, 2021) – Authorities identified a 25-year-old UPS driver who died in a semi truck accident Friday afternoon in Tulare County.
 
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Avenue 120, just west of Highway 99 near Pixley.
 
Rayland Elzy of Visalia was driving a UPS truck when the driver of the semi attempted to pass him. The trailer of the semi hit the side of the UPS truck, causing Elzy to be thrown onto the roadway. The trailer then ran him over.
 
Officers say the Elzy was not wearing a seat belt and the side door of his truck was open.
 
As a result, Elzy died at the scene.
 
The other driver remained at the site of the crash.
 
No alcohol or drugs appear to have been a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
