Rolando Pinto-Mendez Dead, Eli Lopez Arrested in Police Chase Accident near San Antonio Avenue and Philadelphia Street

 
POMONA, CA (February 8, 2021) — Rolando Pinto-Mendez was killed in a police chase accident near San Antonio Avenue and Philadelphia Street Wednesday.
 
According to reports, the fatal accident happened around 4:00 p.m. At San Antonio Avenue and Ninth Street, officers tried pulling over a suspect for a vehicle code violation.
 
However, the driver — 22-year-old Eli Richard Machado Lopez — failed to stop. Lopez reportedly led officers on a brief chase before he crashed into another car.
 
As a result of the accident, 26-year-old Mendez sustained grave injuries and died shortly after.
