UPDATE: Philip Popick Arrested after Fatal Head-On Accident on Highway 29 [Calistoga, CA]

One Person Dead in Calistoga Head-On Crash, Philip Popick Detained

 
CALISTOGA, CA (March 16, 2021) — One person died in a head-on accident on Highway 29 near Larkmead Lane Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a southbound Subaru crossed over the center line into the path of a northbound Infiniti. As a result, the impact killed the Infiniti driver and caused major injuries to a passenger.
 
Police did not publicly identity the victim — a 64-year-old male resident of Santa Rosa.
 
Paramedics transported the Subaru driver, 30-year-old Philip Popick of Calistoga, to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries. Popick was arrested at the Queen for suspected felony DUI — drugs, causing major injury, the CHP said.
 
Police identified the Infiniti passenger as 62-year-old Deborah Abata of Santa Rosa.
