Person Dead in Fairfield Pedestrian Accident on 80 Freeway

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (August 5, 2022) — One person died in a pedestrian crash on the 80 Freeway near Texas Street on Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 2:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a pedestrian crossing the westbound lanes of the highway was later hit by at least one car.
 
Shortly after, authorities and paramedics responded to the scene and closed the lanes, diverting westbound traffic off West Texas Street. By 3:27 a.m., CHP officers reopened the lanes.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the unidentified pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. We do not have the victim’s name or residence. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
