DUI Crash on Mariposa Road in Hesperia Kills Three People and Critically Injures One

 
HESPERIA, CA (February 21, 2024) – Pedro Valencia-Perez, Jose Valencia-Saucedo and Rosa Saucedo-Negrete were killed in a DUI crash in Hesperia Tuesday afternoon on February 20.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:43 p.m. on Mariposa Road, just south of Mesquite Street. According to the CHP, 45-year-old Pavlo Padilla of Victorville was driving a black 2016 Chevrolet Suburban when he collided head-on with a blue 2005 Toyota Corolla.
 
Both vehicles sustained significant damage from the crash.
 
Valencia-Perez, a 58-year-old Barstow resident, was the driver of the Corolla. Valencia-Saucedo, 22, Saucedo-Negrete, 59, and 21-year-old Francisco Valencia-Saucedo were his passengers.
 
Valencia-Perez, Valencia-Saucedo and Saucedo-Negrete all died in the crash, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. Francisco suffered critical injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Padilla sustained minor injuries. Officers arrested him for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury/death.
 
Family members created a GoFundMe page for the victims funeral and hospital expenses.
 
An investigation into this tragic crash is ongoing.
