Pedestrian Killed, Samaan Samaan Arrested in Hit-and-Run on Merrill Avenue [Fontana, CA]

Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver who Fatally Struck Pedestrian in Fontana

 
FONTANA, CA (November 6, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Merrill Avenue and Wheeler Avenue in Fontana on Wednesday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:12 p.m. on November 2. According to the Fontana Police Department, the pedestrian was walking northbound across the eastbound lanes of Merrill when a white minivan struck them.
 
The driver of the minivan, 67-year-old Samaan Samaan, did not stop and immediately fled the scene.
 
First responders rushed the pedestrian to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where the unidentified victim later succumbed to their injuries.
 
One witness was located on scene and provided limited suspect information. Assisting officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle as a white Nissan Quest. The vehicle was later located at a residence in Fontana.
 
Police located Samaan at this residence and arrested him. They booked him to West Valley Detention Center for felony hit-and-run charges.
 
An investigation is ongoing.
