Man Dead after Pedestrian Accident on 805 Freeway near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard

 
CLAIREMONT MESA, CA (December 12, 2023) – A man was hit and killed by two vehicles on 805 Freeway, early Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 11, at about 4:30 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a man was walking across the northbound side of the freeway. A short time later, a Mazda CX-5 and a Lexus IS250 struck him near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the drivers involved remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
