Woman Suffers Serious Injuries after Merced Crash on Highway 140 at Highway 165

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (January 20, 2022) – Paula Gomez was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Merced County on Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just after 4:38 p.m. on January 17 at the intersection of Highway 140 and Highway 165. According to the California Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Ryan Williams of Delhi was driving a 1999 Dodge 3500 towing a horse trailer. He was traveling westbound on Highway 140 at approximately 5-10 mph after stopping at the intersection.
 
Gomez, a 60-year-old Winton resident, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 165 at approximately 60 mph. She failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the passenger side of the Dodge. After that, her Honda overturned from the impact.
 
As a result, Gomez suffered major injuries to her arms and legs. Paramedics took her Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, Williams complained of pain but refused treatment.
 
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
