Two-Vehicle Accident on South Edison Road Kills Passenger and Seriously Injures Driver

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 4, 2022) – A passenger died in a two-vehicle accident on South Edison Road in Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:58 p.m. on January 4, at the intersection with Muller Road just east of Weedpatch Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Escape was heading westbound on Muller approaching Edison when it made a complete stop at the limit line. It then entered the intersection directly into the path of a Peterbuilt big rig.
 
A passenger in the back seat of the Escape was not wearing safety restraints. That person suffered fatal injuries from the crash and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Escape suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig was unharmed.
 
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
