Early Morning Three-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in Stockton Ends in Fatality

 
STOCKTON, CA (January 4, 2022) – At least one person was killed in a three-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Stockton early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 2:24 a.m. on January 1, along the northbound freeway at the Benjamin Holt Drive off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red SUV, a blue Chevrolet Silverado and a four-door sedan collided for unknown reasons.
 
When officers arrived, they found one of the vehicles had overturned on its roof. All of them had major damage from the crash.
 
Paramedics provided life-saving aid, but at least one person died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
At this time, it is unclear if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is underway.
