ATWATER, CA (May 13, 2021) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on Cressey Way north of Atwater Wednesday morning, May 12.
 
The accident happened just before 5:00 a.m. at the frontage road to Highway 99. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck the pedestrian who was walking in the area.
 
Arriving units found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with significant injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the victim died at the scene.
 
Coroner’s personnel will release the identity of the victim once it is confirmed and family members are notified.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the factors involved and liability.
