Fatal Santa Rosa Train Accident, Police Identify Rodrigo Jaimes

 
SANTA ROSA, CA (May 18, 2021) – Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who was struck and killed by a SMART train as 53-year-old Rodrigo Banuelos Jaimes of Santa Rosa.
 
The accident happened just after 6:00 p.m. on May 11. The Santa Rosa Fire Department, the Sonoma County Fire District and Sonoma Life Support ambulance responded to the collision near West Robles Avenue in an unincorporated area outside of Santa Rosa city limits.
 
Three witnesses said the train engineer blew the horn multiple times to warn the man. However, the train struck and killed Jaimes, who did not leave the tracks.
 
An investigation into this fatal incident is ongoing.
