Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway in South Sacramento Ends in Fatality

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (April 27, 2022) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway near Pocket Road, early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:10 a.m. on April 24. According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver reported seeing a dark object moving across the southbound freeway. The driver did not have enough time to react and tragically collided with a person.
 
After striking the victim, the driver pulled over and called 911.
 
Officers arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. They only described the victim as a female. However, they will release her identity once it is confirmed and family members are properly notified.
 
The driver cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of impairment.
 
At this time, police did not release any additional information regarding the fatal pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway. However, an investigation is underway.
