DUI Head-On Crash on Highway 67 in Ramona Ends in Fatality

 
RAMONA, CA (September 6, 2023) – One person was killed in a DUI head-on crash on Highway 67 in Ramona early Saturday morning on September 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:41 a.m. just south of Boortz Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen sedan apparently crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Toyota sedan.
 
Responding firefighters had to extricate the male driver of the Volkswagen, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The female driver of the Toyota was not hospitalized.
 
Alcohol is believed to be involved as open containers were found in the Volkswagen. Further investigation is underway.
