Car Crashes on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Bakersfield Killing the Driver and Injuring Three Passengers

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 5, 2024) – One person was killed in a car accident at South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Curnow Road in Bakersfield on Saturday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on February 3. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Curnow Road when it failed to stop at the T-intersection. It then left the roadway and struck a dirt berm from Central Branch Kern Island Canal.
 
As a result, the 25-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The three juvenile passengers in the car sustained major injuries and were taken to Kern Medical.
 
Officials are still investigating if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call CHP at 661-396-6600.
