Car Crashes Off Highway 299 into Trinity River Killing 1 and Injuring 2

 
TRINITY COUNTY, CA (June 3, 2022) – One person was killed in a car accident off Highway 299 in Trinity County on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. on June 1. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle went off the highway about mile marker 33 and into the Trinity River just east of Big Bar.
 
Rafters got one occupant out alive but injured. However, one occupant was killed in the crash.
 
The CHP helicopter took the injured patient to the hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Officers shut down the highway about 3 miles west of Helena while they retrieved the vehicle.
 
At this time, an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and factors involved.
