Emelia Martinez Killed in Hit-and-Run on 16th Avenue [Oakland, CA]

73-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in East Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (June 3, 2022) – Emelia Martinez died in a hit-and-run crash in East Oakland late Tuesday afternoon on May 31.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:33 p.m. at 16th Avenue and International Boulevard. According to the Oakland Police Department, the 73-year-old victim from Oakland was crossing the intersection in a marked crosswalk when a mid-90s white Hummer SUV struck her.
 
After the crash, the SUV sped away northbound on 16th Avenue.
 
Responding paramedics rushed Martinez to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
