MERCED COUNTY, CA (March 6, 2024) – One person was killed in a big rig accident on 5 Freeway in Merced County early Tuesday morning on March 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:00 a.m. near Santa Nella. According to the California Highway Patrol, two big rigs collided for unknown reasons.
 
When officers arrived, they pronounced one person dead at the scene.
 
The name, age and city of residence of the victim were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
