Critical Injuries Reported in Big Rig Accident on 15 Freeway in Baker

 
BAKER, CA (May 30, 2021) – One person suffered critical injuries after a big rig accident on 15 Freeway in Baker Thursday morning, May 27.
 
The accident happened around 5:19 a.m. near mile marker 143. CHP officials said two tractor-trailers collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the big rigs to catch fire.
 
San Bernardino County firefighters responded and found one person in critical condition. They requested a helicopter to airlift the patient to a trauma center.
 
Crews shut down all three lanes of the freeway while they cleared the wreckage. Caltrans was notified of a hard closure.
 
The fire on the semi was reportedly knocked down by 6:27 am.
 
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
