Miguel Rivara Dead after Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway near Balboa Boulevard

 
SYLMAR, CA (May 24, 2022) — A 22-year-old man identified as Miguel Rivara of Granada Hills died in a motorcycle crash on Saturday, May 21.
 
According to California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office, at around 5:15 a.m., they received reports of a collision on the northbound 5 Freeway north of Balboa Boulevard. CHP Officer Josh Greengard said the crash involved a semi-truck and a Yamaha motorcycle.
 
Officers and medics then rushed to the scene.
 
As a result of the incident, Rivara who rode the motorcycle, sustained fatal injuries and died.
 
Currently, there are no reports if alcohol, drugs, or speed played a role to the collision.
 
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
