Two-Car Accident on Jefferson Street in Oceanside Kills 65-Year-Old Man

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (October 26, 2021) – Michael John Kelley died in a two-car accident in Oceanside Tuesday last week.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:56 p.m. on October 19, at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Highway 78. According to the CHP, the 65-year-old man was driving a 2006 Lexus southbound on Jefferson Street when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection. He then slammed into a 2000 Toyota 4Runner that was making a left turn to merge onto the westbound Highway 78.
 
The impact of the crash sent the Lexus off the roadway, where it crashed into a light pole.
 
Kelly suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
Two people inside the Toyota had minor injuries but declined treatment.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Further investigation is underway.
