Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by Car on Highway 65 in Porterville

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (April 10, 2023) – A man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Highway 65 in Porterville Wednesday evening on April 5.
 
The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. at the intersection with Teapot Dome Avenue. According to the Porterville Police Department, the 32-year-old man was walking eastbound in a crosswalk against a solid red light, with north and southbound traffic having the green light.
 
The side mirror of an oncoming car hit the man. Another vehicle was able to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting the man, but the next car did not see the man and hit him.
 
As a result, the man suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
