Man in Motorized Wheelchair Hit in Train Accident near Main Street

 
VISTA, CA (March 1, 2024) — A man in a motorized wheelchair was hit and killed by a train at Main Street and Santa Fe Avenue.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal accident happened around 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Under unclear circumstances, a westbound Sprinter service train struck the man who was in a motorized wheelchair.
 
As a result, the unidentified victim passed away from his injuries.
 
Following the incident, investigators had to order a halt for westbound and eastbound Sprinter service from Vista Civic Center. By 12:50 p.m., officials resumed all train services.
 
Authorities did not offer information on the circumstances of the crash, but the sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit will look into the details.
