Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles on Highway 101 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 20, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 in San Jose Friday morning on December 16.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:15 a.m. near the McKee Road exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking on highway lanes from the right shoulder. After he crossed into the second lane, a Chevrolet Silverado traveling at approximately 65 mph struck him.
 
The driver of the Silverado, a 46-year-old Union City man, told officers that he made an attempt to avoid the pedestrian. However, the right side of the vehicle still hit the victim.
 
A second vehicle also hit the pedestrian in the rightmost lane. The driver of that vehicle did not stop.
 
The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
 
CHP officers closed lanes for almost eight hours while they investigated the crash and cleared the site.
