Mario Lucero Dead in Hit-and-Run Accident on Cole Grande Road near Horse Creek Trail

 
VALLEY CENTER, CA (December 20, 2022) — A 71-year-old bicyclist identified as Mario Lucero, of Valley Center, died in a hit-and-run crash.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Cole Grade Road at about 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 17
 
CHP officer Hunter Gerber said Lucero rode his bicycle northbound on the right shoulder of northbound Cole Grade Road . Then a Ford vehicle, possibly a Ford Expedition or Ford F-Series pickup, struck him and fled.
 
CHP and paramedics arrived at the area and pronounced Lucero dead at the scene.
 
Authorities found the vehicle’s front passenger-side headlight at the scene.
