Man Gets Out of Stopped Car and Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 5 Freeway in East Village Area

 
EAST VILLAGE, CA (October 28, 2021) – A 20-year-old Las Vegas man died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in East Village area of San Diego Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on October 27, near Highway 94. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man jumped out of a stopped car during an argument with the driver. While he was walking on the ramp, a vehicle struck him.
 
After the man was hit, the woman who was driving the car that the man jumped out ran into the lanes and tried to drag him to the side of the freeway. She told the CHP her 2-year-old child was also in the vehicle. The child was not injured.

Paramedics arrived but the man died at the scene.
 
Toxicology tests on the man who was killed will be run to determine if he was intoxicated. An investigation is ongoing.
