Driver Dies after Crashing into Big Rig on 57 Freeway in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, CA (July 14, 2021) – A man died in a big rig accident on 57 Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday, July 14.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla when he slammed into the rear of a big rig tractor trailer on the freeway near Ball Road.

The driver of the truck told officers he was entering the freeway from Ball when he saw the Corolla in the far right lane going at a high rate of speed narrowing in on him. He veered to the right to avoid the sedan, but the car clipped the truck’s trailer. The Corolla then went underneath the trailer.

As a result, the driver of the Corolla died at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a 30-year-old Fountain Valley resident.

The big rig driver escaped injury.

At this time, CHP officials are still investigating the exact cause and factors involved in the crash.
