Rollover Crash on Friant Road in Fresno Kills Driver and Injures 3 Passengers

FRESNO, CA (April 24, 2023) – A man was killed and his three adult passengers were injured after a rollover accident on Friant Road Friday evening on April 21.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. just north of Lost Lake Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 42-year-old Fresno man was driving a GMC Envoy when he lost control for unknown reasons.

The SUV then veered to the right, went onto the shoulder of the road and overturned on its roof.

The unidentified man was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Investigators noticed the driver’s seatbelt appeared to be broken and failed to keep the man in his seat during the crash.

The three passengers, 32-year-old Cheyenne Perry of Coarsegold, 29-year-old Sara Davis of Visalia, and 34-year-old Monica Mitchell of Fresno suffered minor to major injuries.

CHP officials said alcohol may have been a factor in this crash. Street racing or reckless driving activity was also a possibility. Further investigation is underway.

We send our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We also wish the injured victims a fast recovery.
