Bicyclist Lin Kim Dies in Riverside Accident

RIVERSIDE, CA (February 2, 2021) – Police identified the bicyclist who died in a hit-and-run accident earlier this month in Riverside.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on January 7 near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Jackson Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, 66-year-old Lin Tae Kim of Riverside rode his bicycle south on Jackson in the bike lane for his morning exercise. As he entered the southbound traffic lanes, a passing vehicle struck him.

The involved driver slowed for a moment, but then accelerated away from the scene. Investigators have since determined that the suspect was at the wheel of a Mini Cooper, manufactured between 2002 and 2008.

Witnesses called 911. Officials transported Kim to Parkview Community Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Anyone with information is urged to call the police department’s Traffic Bureau at 951-826-8723, or [email protected].
