Joseph Lewis Injured, Mario Hernandez Detained in DUI Car Crash on 3rd Avenue at Edminster Road

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 14, 2021) — Joseph Lewis suffered serious injuries in a DUI two-car accident on 3rd Street at Edminster Road Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the Merced-area California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, Mario Alberto Hernandez ran a stop sign and collided with an eastbound 2002 Dodge Caravan on 3rd Avenue.
 
As a result, Hernandez’s 2000 GMC Sierra overturned in the crash, leaving him uninjured. However, police interviewed and arrested 31-year-old Hernandez on DUI charges.
 
Soon after, paramedics transported 50-year-old Lewis, the driver of the Dodge, to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries.
